Taco Bell has come under scrutiny in the past for some of their ingredients, so we thought we’d take a closer look at those ingredients that make their way into your favorite foods. Believe it or not? Some of the things we learned surprised us in a good way..
Fast food breakfasts aren’t exactly healthy, but there is something in Taco Bell’s breakfast foods that you can feel good about. That’s because, in 2015, Taco Bell joined a slew of other restaurants and announced that it would start exclusively serving cage-free eggs by the end of 2016..
Cage-free eggs aren’t necessarily healthier for humans, but according to the Humane Society of the United States, Taco Bell’s switch meant that 500,000 hens each year would see their conditions improving. How? When hens live cage-free, they’re able to engage in more of their natural, instinctive animal behaviors, like spreading their wings, getting exercise, nesting, and perching. And everyone can get on board with supporting responsibly raised food!

I am continuing my “what I eat at (insert fast food franchise here)” video series! I love to eat food that fuels my body, but sometimes with a hectic lifestyle, you don’t always have the luxury of planning every meal perfectly into your day. Whether it be because you are on the road or you have a meeting that ran long sometimes your stomach just needs food now! I think we have all been in that situation where we know that if we don’t eat within the next 15 minutes we are about to have a mini toddler tantrum. Am I right?! No? Just me?
Obviously fast food is “fast food”. It is built for convenience, not nutrition… But, if you know a menu well enough sometimes you can cheat the system and eat out without hurting your healthy lifestyle! XOXO.
