🌟 Dr. Edgar G. Dorsey-Treviño, MMSc, PGY-1 in Internal Medicine at Knapp Medical Center, has been accepted to showcase his research for a poster presentation at the prestigious 2024 Texas Society of Clinical Oncology Conference, to be held in San Antonio, TX. Additionally, he has been honored with a travel award to attend the conference. In his project, titled "Long-Term Efficacy of High-Dose Imatinib in Hispanic Patients Without Access to Second-Generation Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitors Treated in LATAM Centers," Dorsey-Treviño and his colleagues explored outcomes in chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) patients. Their findings suggest that for patients who did not initially respond to standard-dose imatinib, increasing the dosage produced outcomes comparable to those seen with newer medications, offering hope for patients in resource-limited settings.Reflecting on this achievement, Dorsey-Treviño shared that he is "deeply honored to present our work at such a renowned conference. This milestone brings me closer to my aspiration of becoming a physician-scientist in hematology/oncology, and I hope our research will make a meaningful impact."Congratulations, Dr. Dorsey-Treviño! 👏🎉
